[ He's not sure what to make of that feeling, pretty sure it's a car crash of all sorts of different things, so he mostly just focuses on Steve.

He's not sure if that means she's here here, or if she was just a visitor. Charlie explained, but only vaguely. ] I ain't gonna ask if you're okay, 'cause - [ Hand wave, clearly he is not. ] Is she still in the City, or?

[He shakes his head]

She left about fifteen minutes ago.

She was crying.

[ Quietly. ] I'm sorry. [ Because he has nothing he can say that will help, there's no point telling Steve he'll see her again, because nobody knows how to get out. ]

Can you just come here?

[ And he moves to sit beside him, still watching Steve like he's waiting for him to fall apart. ]

Can I do anything?

[Steve's arms go around Bucky, and he pulls him closer]

Don't leave.

[ Instinctively he hugs him back, a little tighter than necessary, because this isn't good, Steve's hurting and Bucky wants to fix that. ]

[Steve puts his head on Bucky's shoulder]

[ He hasn't held on to him for a long time, but Bucky doesn't even think about letting go, just pushes everything else aside. ]

[Just like that, he drops it. He doesn't mean it like a brother, like a friend. He means this. He doesn't look up, but he holds on, tighter than before.]

[ That's not what he's expecting, definitely not what he thought would come out of Steve's mouth, Bucky stills for a moment before he curls his fingers in his shirt.

Softly. ] Y'know I do too, right? But that doesn't mean you can't come to me if you need to.

[Can you imagine a dame like that crying? Steve hates it]

[ There's something about this that Bucky doesn't get. ]

But you'll get back to her, I mean, there's still a future for the both of you.

[Steve goes silent. He can't lie - first off he's really really bad at it, but beyond that, he just can't lie about this]

[ Goddamnit, WHY. He's so awkward. ] You and Peggy, I wouldn't try to stop that.

[He's taking a deep breath]

[ He realises it might be a bit insensitive, but he should be kinder, he won't like letting Steve go, but he will. ]
