[ His device switches on, a big, black nose snuffling at the camera for a moment. There's a growl, and a yip of excitement before Bucky's voice can be heard, sounding far more hoarse and stuffed up than usual. ]

Crepe. As much as I'd like y'to destroy the damn thing, it isn't food and - [ Okay then, having to stop to sneeze six times in a row isn't good, he should have realised when he started to feel off last night. ] Damnit.

[ Bucky's footfalls are heavy as they cross his bedroom, the snuffling dog thumping her tail against the floor and licking Bucky's wrist as he reaches to pick up the device. The camera pans to the dog, Bucky ruffling the fur on the top of her head. ] Good girl. Now c'mon, back to bed.

[ It's 11am. Neither Bucky nor the dog seem to care. Crepe bounces off, jumps on to the empty, rumpled bed, and Bucky's sigh turns weary before he cuts the feed off. ]

[ There's a sound through the line, Bucky falling back into the bundle of blankets before he puts the device back to his ear. ] Yeah, her name's Crepe. She wanted to be all fancy and french.

[ The laugh he gives off trails into a cough. ] She's my Christmas present from Steve, but she's a real sweetheart.

[ Maybe she shouldn't make him laugh? ]

Oh, I remember. They used t'swoon for a uniform too. But I don't even need that with this darlin' around.

[ Pause. ] You got someone t' walk her while you're sick in bed, or are y' not that sick?

[ A pause as he thinks about actually having to get up out of bed. ] Steve'll probably get her out if I knock myself unconscious. She's charmed him.

[ Well, now he just sounds panicked. He's too sick for his poker face. Or voice as the case may be. ]

[ Well then. ] So did you and that husband o' yours have a good holiday?

Yeah. An' New Year's was nice, too, with the weather.

[ Which is pretty much admitting it, but he makes a noise anyway, like the idea is closed. ]

S'been nice. We were barbecuing a couple of days ago.

Christmas should be cold, 's just the way things are, but I don't mind a bit of sunshine for New Year's at all.
